Hey there, I have had my CURE for about a year and am still enjoying it. From time to time I wonder what different speakers might sound like with it. I know that with this amp, I have to be really careful with the treble control, it can get too bright really fast. The CURE mated with the Z12 is very stout and very fast to react.
What might be some speakers that are in the same ballpark but maybe soften up the treble and possibly soften up the overall response?
I was looking at GWS G12C Eminence GA-SC64 Fat Jimmy C1270
Definitely open to other suggestions.
Thanks!

If you want to roll off highs try an Eminence Cannabis Rex. Like the Z-12 it's an American voiced speaker, but the hemp cone rolls off the highs. It may have a little more low end than the Z-12 also. If not more, perhaps a little more rounded. There are good sound clips with the speakers played in a variety of styles on the Eminence site.

I was going to suggest something similar, but more general. I wonder if just about anything with a hemp cone. I can say this much, The Cure is what got me back into Z's after I got my Mesa stage out of my system. I still had a 112 Mesa Theile cabinet with the famed EV whatever it is. That speaker and is very hifi and really gives you exactly what the amp is doing. You want to avoid something like that with what you said about the Cure, it really accentuated the treble. I ultimately decided to pass the Cure on and finally landed on a Maz 18. Except now I miss the 112 studio size and weight of the Cure. Hoping to pick up a studio cab in the new year.

I have a few Alnico speakers and they seem smoother too me, than ceramic speakers. I've been recording some tracks with the Celestion Alnico Cream and it seems to be the best speaker I've tried so far.
I don't have a Cure, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

The C Rex will definitely give you a smoother tone, but I liked the Texas Heat more. I've been wanting to try the Lil Texas for a while, but have ventured back to British Speakers again. I still have a Texas Heat for when I want that tone.
I think TH would be great in the Z Best or any cabinet.
