I recently purchased a Nobles ODR1 and finally got a chance to try it with my Nova. My set up was my Charvel super strat, Marshall compressor, ODR1, MXR delay, JRocket Boing reverb pedal, Nova. I was trying to not bother the family so this was at bedroom level. I just used the volume controls on the amp and had it down to bedroom level, no attenuator. This amp sounds amazing like this, especially when the overdrive channel is engaged. I was able to turn the main volume down to below 9 o'clock and it still sounded great at just a whisper. Really looking forward to the gig we have booked for Saturday. It is a smaller venue but I know I will get a good tone even at lower levels.

That's really cool. I was looking at the SW section during the BF sale and almost pulled the plug on that amp. I'd love a killer Z super clean amp, I just can't figure out which one is the right one. A dumb old Twin can sound like gold to me. Some of the EZG clips blow me away for that clean sound. I've never heard a tweed twin, or any tweed amp to be honest, and I "think" that is part of what that amp is going after. I almost pulled the plug on a couple others too. Anyway, was messing with the CAZ today at low volume and thought this might be worth sharing. 78db in right in front of the amp. I wouldn't call it 'bedroom level', but I can hear the strings on the guitar acoustically over the amp at that level even though I'm basically right in front of a 4x12. Maybe for another perspective, a drummer recording something over here the other day was at 105-108db from about 10 feet away. I think it kind of sounds like a cranked amp, but it's nowhere near cranked. Maybe we are hearing the same basic thing, that the master volume's on these amps just flat out work well.

Adam, the Nova will get kind of clean but that's not really it's wheelhouse. It's more of a raunchy amp than clean, definitely a tweed attitude. I love mine but I wouldn't pull it out for cleans it's a great rock/blues amp. You mention the EZG and that's a clean Z for sure, but consider the Z-Lux before the Nova for sweet cleans. The Z-Lux has beautiful cleans and it goes into a sweet mild overdrive when the Volume is cranked. The Z-Plus is another one that like the Maz series will go from clean to dirty and I'd listen to the Cure too. It has a nice wide variance of tone on one plate. Lots of good demos on Doc's website. Z amps are like potato chips, ya just cain't have one!

That's sounds great. Good luck getting a drummer to play at that level, though. I have an LP that looks just like yours. Mine is R7 blacktop. What's yours?

Drummer wouldn't happen even with the rods or whatever. That LP is a regular standard from 2004, 50's neck. Throbak pickups, but I think it sounded great with the stock burstbuckers too.Had a refret a few years ago too and the guy talked me into stainless, which is ok, but preference sound wise is regular fretwire.
