I picked up a JHS Little Black Amp Box Passive Amp Attenuator and ran it through the effects loop of my Stang Ray head as described for the device. Sparks emanated from the connection points. What Would cause this?
(Meanwhile, I've jumpered the send and return to get the amp to function as normal...)

Did it happen more than once? Does it happen with other pedals?

I didn't try it more than once!
I haven't sent anything else through the loop.

I wonder if there is a ground connection that needs to be redone.

Since the loop is only signal-level voltage, I wonder if there’s any chance it could have been static electricity given we are in the winter season with dry air and all. I zapped myself pretty good at work on Friday due to it.
