So I just picked up my Maz JR this weekend. Ive been playing with it and haveing a great time. I got to pokeing around the back of the amp and found that the G12H that is in it, is a 16ohm. And its plugged into an 8ohm jack. I couldnt imagine is good. I know its not the worst thing, but I should replace it with an 8ohm right?
Also haveing a 16 hooked to a 8ohm load can make it sound a little flabby and not have as much power right?
What comes in most Juniors stock?

if its a 1x12 combo, like mine, then it likely came stock with an 8 ohm G12H. Can't imagine why it has a 16 ohm G12H in it...don't know why someone would replace the stock speaker with the same one in a different ohm rating . -Greg

Yeah its strange. The speaker has obviously been removed. The Label on the magnet clearly says 16ohm. There is screw wear around the holes.
Very strange. I notice that the amp seems to have a little less umph than I would expect. I cranked it and was kinda suprised it wasnt unbearablely loud.
Also the master kinda maxed out at about 11oclock and just got more gainy.
Anyone got a G12H 8ohm they want to trade for 16? ;D

Plug it into the 16 ohm hole. If you have a meter you might want to check it out. Someone may have reconed it with an 8 ohm voice coil. Doesn't matter which way you hook the meter to the speaker. Unplug the speker and either touch the leads on the speaker terminals or on the tip and sleeve of the plug. Either way if it's an 8 ohm recone the speaker will read about 6 ohms on the meter. If it is in fact a 16 ohm it'll read about 12 ohms. Sounds like you bought the amp used, if so I would retube at least the output tubes and the phase inverter. If it is used you really won't know how good it can sound unless you do a total retube. Output tubes especially can make a big difference in the sound and feel of the amp.

Right or wrong you can never know. Plug it into the 16 ohm jack and it'll sound the same as an 8 ohm in the 8 ohm jack.
