2 years ago I foolishly sold my Carmen Ghia due to financial situation and lack of time to play. As my business is getting better, I want to buy an amp and pick up the guitars again. I mostly play blues/funk at home at low volume. Initially I considered the Z plus since it has 15w/7w switch, but the level knob on the Cure seems desirable since I often practice late at night. Is Cure the right amp for me?
Thanks!

I think you’ll love the Cure. It is still one of my favorite Z amps. It’s great for blues and funk. The Level control is incredible!

Pretty much any newer Z will get you great reduced volume performance due to the PPIMV (provided it has one). The Cure is a great example of that, however it is more in the Fender camp than the Carmen Ghia. The Maz 18 MKII is another great example of the implementation of the PPIMV and might suit you better. You can’t really go wrong these days.

I will buy one after I build my sound-proof music room next year.

You might want to keep an eye out for an Anni-Ghia, which has a MV. We played around with a MV Anni vs. a regular Ghia and found it gets great lower volume sound and when you dial the MV out it sounds exactly like a normal Ghia.

I love my Cure, but there are so many great choices from Dr. Z! I have a Nova as well and am interested in at least 5 other models!
The Level control on the Cure and the post phase inverter master on the Nova works equally as well.

I've owned Maz 18 amps for 15 years and several months ago got a Cure. I really like the Cure and use it for some home playing as well as gigging. I like it more than my Maz amps, but I set my amps up clean and use pedals for dirt. I've never owned a Ghia.

I kinda do the opposite- I set my amps up dirty and back off the guitar's volume to clean it up and like the Cure for that.

You're using it wrong... Just kidding! Goes to show how versatile the amp is.

I agree that the Cure is EXCELLENT for low volume playing. You can have it at pretty much acceptable TV volumes and it still retain it's tone.

Is the Cure the cure?
There is no cure for our sickness. We all know that.....

Is the Cure the cure? There is no cure for our sickness. We all know that..... True. The Cure is not the final and complete Cure (for me, anyway). Although I love mine, I've bought a new Mesa Mark Five:25 and a used Dr. Z Nova in the year that I've owned it.

The Cure is a fantastic low-volume amp. And if you DO ever take it out of the house, it's light and loud when you open it up.
