Last week I received a Paul Reed Smith S2 Studio on Wednesday, then on Friday I wandered into a small music store and bought a 2003 Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster.
The PRS is near mint. The build quality is fantastic. The tones are unique. The bridge humbucker is brighter and twangier than a PAF style humbucker and splits well. The neck pickup alone sound like I always wished a Strat neck pickup sounded. It's a fun guitar. My Dr. Z Nova loves it!
The Strat is 1970s cool! The neck feels wider and thicker than the PRS's (it's not). I thought it'd be heavy and the frets would be too small. It's light (7-1/2 pounds), plays well and sounds like a Strat should. It's in great shape and is well built, though not up to the standard of the PRS.

Congrats! I really, really like PRS's... I've been fortunate enough own a few, and they're among the best guitars I own.

Now to research that PRS. It was offered for a limited time (but not in limited numbers) in 2018. Dealers were able to place orders between January and March that year. I was aware of them ahead of time and interested but didn't have the money at the time. I like the sounds and that it sounds different than everything I have.

That PRS looks like a very similar setup as the S2 Vela that you can buy currently (though the Vela doesn't have the middle pickup). But the Vela also currently comes in a Semi-Hollow option... which I want... so badly.

Yes! Same pickups. Considering how good this guitar's bridge, middle and neck switch positions sound (the middle switch position is the bridge and neck pickups combined), the Vela should be an great guitar. This guitar would be great as a semi-hollow. It would also be even cooler looking with the Vela's offset shape.
