I just picked up a Z Drive. What are some tips and tricks I should know? Any recommendations for Settings or how to use it in an especially fantastic fashion?
Thanks guys! (if anyone can hear me)

Red/mosfet side--higher drive, lower level; cut switch down Green/germanium side--higher level, lower drive; cut switch up EQ to taste; but I like the mids boosted just a touch, bass about even, and less highs.
...all of this into a MAZ 18 just under breakup. None of this is gonna melt your face, but the OD/drive is fantastic.

None of this is gonna melt your face, but the OD/drive is fantastic. Gave these a try today. Really good tones! I personally prefer both channels in cut mode though and I EQ the mids flat (meaning no boost or cut), the bass flat and the treble about 12:30. Im also using more gain and less volume on the green channel than you do (I guess I need more salt!). And this is all going into an EMS that is a bit over the edge of breakup (cleans up nicely when the volume is at 7 on the Strat). But man - what a fantastic sound shaping tool this pedal is! So versatile and a ludicrous range of tonal options. Plus it truly truly truly does not **** with the “tone” (meaning core EQ sound) of the amp. Bravo Z & Earthquaker!

We have 3 Z Drives in my house. 2 might as well be welded to the pedal boards they sit on. My son Josh and myself use our Z Drives ALL the time. It is never turned off. My son Michael has one but he primarily plays acoustic so non of his pedals get playing time! ha ha

That's because the general feeling is that the pedal is not very good. What do you mean? Here on the forum? The public at large? Your personal experience? LMK

Gotta disagree with you TeeDawg - I got one of the early pedals and sounds good with my amps. When it was previewed here everyone liked the tone.

What do you mean? Here on the forum? The public at large? Your personal experience? LMK I'm not gonna speak to the names, but I've talked with quite a few. Just didn't work for some. Glad to hear it works for y'all. No offense intended, but that answer seems quite vague. I find it difficult to believe that anyone who knows how to use an overdrive pedal would test out the Z Drive and come away unimpressed.

I use my z drive through wreck jr and it sounds really good what I like about this pedal is it doesn't color the sound it just makes your amp sound like its doing it all itself that to me is what I like about this pedal. I have now a three channel amp watch Eric's video on how to set the pedal up Dr z designed this pedal I think that's why it works so well with his amps

I didn't watch the video before, thank you very much for letting me know about it. I completely agree with you about the video - it demonstrates perfectly how you can use the pedal. Really surprised in all the negative comments on the video - typical YouTube negativity and stupidity

No offense intended, but that answer seems quite vague. I find it difficult to believe that anyone who knows how to use an overdrive pedal would test out the Z Drive and come away unimpressed. No offense taken. I am one that says I didn’t like the pedal. There’s nothing extraordinary about that statement. Not everything works for everyone. No need to have hurt feelings over it. Not everything Fender does is earth shattering either. That doesn’t mean I don’t love their amps. Just like it doesn’t mean I don’t like my Z amps. Fair enough. I just always like to know what people didn’t like, usually so I can be aware of potential incompatibilities with my own gear. For example, if you said it sounds awful through your AC30, then I know that maybe it won’t sound best with my Ray - stuff like that is why I ask.

To be fair, Teedawg, your statement that drew the response horse-**** was the the "general" feeling was that the pedal was not very good. "General" & "in general", when used in that context, means most people with the odd exception. So, you are saying most everybody thinks that the pedal is not very good. Your second statement is valid and not extraordinary, for sure. You and others you know don't like the pedal. Nothing wrong with that position. However, that is not what you implied with your first statement.
