All,
What's a reasonable cable length for buffered effects loops? I've never owed an amp with a buffered loop. Thanks.

I may be mistaken, but I think I've heard buffers are supposed to be able to drive a cable up to 100ft? so whatever length you need to get from the board to the amp?

For a time I ran some of my pedals on my board in a buffered loop. The cables were 25'. That length was no problem. You are more likely to have issues with the pedals having the headroom to take the signal level from your loop.

Don't know the exact answer, but I've used 20' cables in buffered loops of amps and didn't notice any change in sound.

Thanks all. I'll just have to see what I think once I get the CAZ. I can't wait to see how an Analog Delay sounds in the loop.

Russell, I'm thinking that my Echoplex EP-3 is going to sound outrageous in the CAZ-45 loop. I was using it at home a couple of weeks ago and one of the bridge rectifiers opened up on me, so I replaced both of them and did the filter capacitors while I was in there. With good tape and clean, demagnetized heads that old girl should be good for another 40 years!
