I really like the strings that came on my new Les Paul. They are Gibson's Brite Wire "Reinforced" 10-46 set. The tuning with them is very stable and I like the way they ring. They seem to have more tension than what I would expect with that gauge. Something approaching an 11-52 set. The downside normally of that heavier set, for me at least, is that they start to sound "tubby". Especially with humbuckers. I am wondering who makes these strings for Gibson and if they sell the same thing under their brand name. My guess is that would be D'Addario and the set would be their NYXL1046. Both claim to have a "high carbon core" which would account for the extra tension.
Anyone using those D'Addario strings? Other ideas? I may try the same strings in a lighter gauge on my Tele.

I use NYXLs on all my guitars (9-42 on Fenders & 10-46 on Gibsons). I had the same opinion as you when I first installed them. They just felt more solid. I like them a lot.
