Hi all,
I’m having issues with the reverb on my Maz 18. There is a loud hum that is produced only when the reverb is turned up. It’s very noticeable, like a swarm of bees lol. I’ve tried swapping out all the tubes and have tried different power sources but no luck.
I’ve seen other threads about reverb issues but none of the info shared helped my case unfortunately.
Any ideas?
Ian

It’s likely one of three things: the reverb driver tube (V3 I believe), the cables or oxidation around the connections on the amp and reverb tank, or the tank itself. First thing I would do is unplug the reverb circuit and give the connection points a good cleaning with deoxit or the like and re-seat them back into their original positions. Next, I’d try a new tube in V3 (12AT7). Then, I’d look at the tank itself for a loose or broken connection inside.

Is this a new development, or has it always done this?
When I converted my combo to a head, I put the reverb tank inside the head in one direction and it hummed really bad because the way it was positioned by the transformer. I reversed it (pointed it the other way) and the hum was completely gone.
