I put a set of power tubes and new PI in the Cure. (JJ 6V6s and JJ 12AT7). The tubes that were in it were original (2017). It's a great amp. It's number one for my black gospel group. Now, if we could only play a gig... Sick of COVID!

New tubes are nice, even if they are the stock brand and model. When I was young and dumb (now I'm old and slightly less dumb) I never changed tubes unless one died on me, then I would wonder why the amp suddenly sounded so much better. I had no idea they gradually wear out before failing.

That’s how I handled tubes in the 80’s and early 90’s. Played them until they died.

^^ Me too, especially if the tubes were US made. As we moved through the 80's though, we depended more and more on Russian, Chinese, etc. which need to be replaced more often (IMO). Example: I bought a Marshall 50w head (sure wish I still had it) in 1974 and gigged it virtually every weekend, then sold it in 1979 and I'm 99% sure I never touched the tubes.
