After 35 years of playing guitar I am finally sitting down and learning some stuff...like the pentatonic scale in it's various positions...This is totally something I have neglected since I first started playing. What an eye opener!! Anyway, playing my old relic tele into my Maz Jr with a Nobels ODR and Catalinbread Topanga reverb pedal. I hit a few sour notes for good taste haha...just some fun. All at bedroom levels.

That's cool. Elevated Jams has been pumping them out lately. I have been hanging out with a few

Mark, I really like those low volume tones you’re getting out of your Maz. It’s a full-strength earlier MKI if I remember right, correct? Can you elaborate a little on how you do it?
And another observation: not sure if you’re an ABB fan like me, but I could have sworn I heard a little Dickey Betts in there a time or two!

You are correct, my Maz Jr is a MK1...it's a 2007 model I think. It's got a Celestion Gold as well as 6n14n tubes in the power section...can't remember what I have in the preamp... I just set the dials to about 9 am in terms of Master and Volume...eq's are all around 10. I have a new to me Nobels ODR mini in front of that along with a Catalinbread Topanga for some reverb. It's mic'd up with a Sennheiser e609 just on the outer edge of the speaker I might have put some added compression and eq on this one in post...I can't remember but I think I did. Anyway, it's still a little above bedroom level overall but it sounds decent in the mix. I like that the Nobels works well at these low volumes. Some amp and pedal combinations require you to be cookin before they really sound great. This set up allows me not to get too many dirty looks from my wife when she's trying to watch tv haha. If you heard some Dickey in there, it's purely coincidence haha...I do like ABB.

Thanks Mark. You sure seem to have found the low volume solution.
I've been working on that 9am/9am thing on Volume/Master myself. Seems like I read a post (maybe older I'm not sure) by Mike (doctorice) where he had suggested this and it works pretty good.

I usually keep all my dials at 10 and put a mic in front of the amp on gigs...would like to go louder but my band mates don't like me as much haha.

Sounds great Mark! Having some Dickie influence is always a good thing in my book.
