Hi, everybody--great forum with much useful info for a new (used) M18J owner such as myself. This is my reentry into the atmosphere of planet tube after an extended absence, and boy, have things gotten scientific.
I bought a used Maz Jr a month ago and have entered the realm of Tone assisted by 63 Strat, RC booster and AirBrake. But then my reverb just...stopped.
Now, I know many sniff at the old surf, but I'm old enough to feel entitled to it.
Any helpful experiences from the brain trust? Is this a tube issue? Or should I call the Doc?
Thanks for any advice!

9 times out of 10 this seems to be caused by a bad wire in the reverb tank. I'm always real careful with my reverb equipped amps with newer Accutronics tanks. They seem to be pretty fragile these days.

Just an update for anyone with a similar problem...
Doc replied to me as follows:
"Shake the amp with the reverb turned up, do you hear thunder ?
If not, then one of the four connecting wires inside the reverb tub is broken and needs to reconnected, not a hard job.
Also check cables and V3 12AT7 and V4 12AX7."

Thanks, guys, for your help with this!

The reverb quit on my Maz sr a while back. I looked in the tank and couldn't see anything wrong. I bought a new long tank, it came with the short one, put it in and it works fine. My only regret is that I shoud have got a medium or short delay tank instead of the long delay. Got it from www.tubesandmore.com.

I had a similar problem with the tank in my Blues Jr. The little plastic connectors that attach the jack to the pickup are crap. I had a wire that came out of the little channel on the connector and I couldnt get it back in so I got a low wattage soldering iron and took the cheapo connector out and soldered the wires right to the two posts. The verb works fine now.

It's funny how I've got some 40 year old Fender amps that all have the original tanks in them and they still work great. One old Twin Reverb looks like it's been drug behind a pickup it's whole life and the reverb is fine. Accutronics doesn't think they've got a problem!

Billy, I was thinking the same thing. I've never had a reverb tank problem in any Fender, Ampeg, Boogie. I love the Z, but I guess Accutronics ain't so Accu anymore!
