Has anyone used a “blue” type speaker like a weber blue dog with their Monza? The reason I’m asking is that I asked CJ at Weber for a recommendation to replace the G12H30 I have now for something that’ll lessen the high end spike and honky mids. It can get tiring on the ears pretty quickly. He recommended the Weber Blue Dog with hemp cone of all speakers. Does this sound like it’ll do the trick? My other option was the Celestion A Type since I’ve had good experiences with that one in the past.
I didn’t like the Celestion Gold with mine, and the Weber Ceramic Bluedog I had was with my Therapy....it felt “honkey” . I didn’t have the hemp cone however. The speaker I liked best was the WGS. version of the G12H30...the Reaper I think it’s called, and I can’t remember if I got the 30 or 50 watt version. WGS is less sharp highs and smooths the tone out. I also like their more American sounding speaker called the G10cs (they have a 12” version but I only tried the 10”). I used my MONZA in a 2 amp set up as the main drive/lead tone.
It’s the amp I miss the most. It’s worth working out the details in sound you want to hear. Don’t be discouraged if it takes a few speakers to get there.

My favorites with the Monza were, incidentally enough, both 10" speakers: the Eminence Ramrod and the Celestion G10 Greenback. It just so happened that mine was in the very manageable 1x10 combo cabinet. Freaking great amp, I must say.
I had even compared those speakers in the combo cab vs. an outboard 1x12 cab with the likes of the Governor (an approximate Vintage 30 copy) and the G12H-30 Anniversary. But the 10's still won for classic-rock (the G10 Greenback) and heavier/punchier stuff (the Ramrod).
Never paired it with the Monza, but I also had a 30 W AlNiCo Blue Dog for a long time that paired perfectly with my Rx Jr. That speaker (at least mine--I don't know if all of them reacted this way) basically shelved [cut off] the entire upper high-end presence, which in the case of the Rx Jr was okay because it could get bright & brittle fairly easily. But the speaker was otherwise extremely musical with that "chewy" goodness. So, if you think that losing some extreme high-presence from your amp might help, then I suppose the Blue Dog could work for you.

GuitarZ: Needed some noise to fill a break in a tune I'm recording. It was too quiet. Just happened to have some High Quality Dr Z Ghia noise to fill the void. "Heal Your Sound with Dr Z! It's not just a guitar tone prescription!"

GuitarZ: Must be great to be a skunk. Eating bird food about 10' from our sun room. I'm clapping and yelling. At best, it might have given me one "yea what?" look while continuing to dine. At one point, there were two skunks and two racoons.

easyed: Guitar Z, I encountered to ultimate garbage raiding combo once. We'd been having problems with the garbage cans being raided by raccoons for weeks. Late in the evening I heard rattling at the cans. I went out and found that he'd allied with a skunk. "OK"

GuitarZ: EasyEd - Someone at work topped us both. The inside of their car had been somewhat ransacked. They were blaming their son. They checked the video. It was a Bear! I'll stick with the racoons, skunks, foxes, and squirrels.

bigboki: In this age and time when everybody are struggling and especially S&Ms I am amazed to see that kind of ignorance. I am really sorry for your experience dear Dr Z but it is for the better. You don't want to do business with those kind of people anyway.

GuitarZ: Didn't want to restart the plumbing thread, so I figured I'd ShoutBox this. How the heck does cleaning the aerator on a faucet cause a leak to start under the faucet? Huh? Arggggh!!!!

The Bad Poodle Experience: well, Mike, it shouldn't have been the cause of a leak. double-check your work.

GuitarZ: I updated in the Plumbing thread that the Moen website says that a faulty aerator can cause a handle/base leak. Eiyy! I really don't understand how plumbing works. I was ready to double check all connections. But, the leaking stopped with cleaned Aerator.
