Just wondering how the cure is for blues and blues rock? Blackface tones? Or more British?

I play Blues, Blues Rock and Classic Rock. It's more Blackface and some say it can sound Tweed-ish. I can get mine to sound similar to my Therapy, but not quite. I think it sounds more Blacface than the Z-Lux.

Remember that the Cure was supposed to be a stripped down version of the ZLux so you’ll get similar sounds minus the verb and term.

Definitely blackface styled. You'll like it based on the other stuff I know you use.

Very similar to the Lux though the studio cab vs the regular lite combo cab makes a difference, IMO. Great for blues and classic rock--plug in your favorite OD, crank it up and go. The level control is genius--wish I still had mine.

+ 1 on the virtues of the Cure. It's been my #1 gig amp since I bought it new the first year they were available. Definitely leans BF vs Brit. I replaced the excellent Z speaker with an Emi Lil Tex Neo. Stays in the same "American" camp and shaves a few lbs and adds a little more efficiency. Great amp!

I dig mine, it's light, versatile, and sounds great. Put a good OD pedal out front and it's great for blues and rock. I use mine all the time with my Big Band.

I love my cure for blues. It’s like a blackface but better IMHO. It’s like finding a vintage blacface in perfect condition.

I've been playing blues and blues rock for 40 years and find the Cure to be an awesome blues and blues rock amp! Overall, it has an "American" voice, but cranked up, it can get the feel and vibe, if not the exact tone, of a classic British amp. It breaks up nicer than a blackface Fender, in my opinion. I set mine up semi-dirty and clean it up from the guitar or goose it with a boost or fuzz for more.

To add to my post. To use Fender terms, think of the Cure as a none-reverb Deluxe. I know they existed because Glen Frey had one. Everyone is right about the breakup. It's very smooth and can get pretty distorted with the Tone by-pass engaged. You can get into Michael Burks territory with this amp. Or, you can get that nice clean or mild breakup with 335 style guitars. It's amazing!
