I'm considering a new Warmoth Guitar Project. Warmoth has a cool pickguard template and they have an upgrade for a modified Volume Knob position. I have times where I have turned down the volume accidently during strumming, but it's not a huge deal. I tried the modified position on the Warmoth template and the position they offer looks real close to the Position Switch. I'm not sure I could get my pinky around that knob when the switch is in the neck position. Does the position of the volume knob look comfortable or awkward?
The guitar will be similar in color to the Mateus Suhr.

Interesting! I have the same issue on my G&L Legacy re volume turning down because of my strumming. I don't ever remember hitting it but after a while I start to wonder what happened to my tone - DANG! Volume knob got moved. Looking forward to your completed project!

It looks awkward to me. My partscaster, which I have had for going on 30 years, only has 2 knobs. Tone and Volume. The top position is omitted. I am primarily a Tele guy so that just made sense to me when I built it. The volume is a Master and the tone only works on the bridge pickup.

Looks awkward to me. too close to the pickup selector. I don't gig a Strat for this very reason you mention but not from strumming. Always seems to happen to me while soloing. i would go with Zpilots suggestion if i were to re-wire my strat for the purpose of wanting to gig it.

I may eliminate the volume knob and make my 1st tone the MV as you have done. When I go to turn my guitar volume off when I finish playing I usually hit the first tone knob instead, so it makes sense to use it as a MV. We'll see what I conclude after a day or so. Thanks for the input

My problem is always hitting the toggle pushing it from front pickup to middle/ front On my G&L Legacy. It almost looks like the repositioned volume might protect against that. Having said that it does look awkward..

Yeah, that modified volume position does look a little weird. (Maybe because it screws up that arched-line of knobs that we're all so used to?) I would agree that the 2-knob layout you suggested later looks better. I have a feeling that with just those 2 knobs, our eyes/brain are still telling us that--if the 3rd one were even there--it would be in the proper position, you just can't see it. I'm tellin' ya... the eyes are more perceptive than we give them credit.

I am going to eliminate the hole for the first Tone or what will be the volume. I will drill the hole myself. I'll set it up with just the tone knob from the factory.

Love that Wilkinson bridge you selected. Very well made.

I vote awkward as well. I do like the one in the photo. I'd wire that single tone control to the bridge PU.

Yup,awkward.I like the second one with 2 knobs instead of 3.I don't have a problem with volume knob location on my G&L S-500.Sometime about 5-6 years ago I shifted my pick hand close to the neck,so I don't usually bang into stuff.Tip of the hat to Rory Gallagher, although I play NOTHING like him.
