Hello, I recently swapped stock bridge TF3 ( stacked hum canceling single coil ) on my 2018 Tom Anderson T Icon with Fralin Blues Special. I like Fralin for most part but feel like I would like to have a little bit more fullness and mid bite . Now I’m thinking try La Brea Paisley. It’s not much info online about La Brea . If anybody tried them please post your throughly. I’m playing through cranked Z Wreck.
thanks

Thanks Keith. I did saw it. I do trust Zac opinion that they are great pickups . Problem that he is playing DR and not comparing with other pickups so it’s hard to judge without referenced gear. I’m pretty much hoping someone who tried them in person would respond how they compare with Fralins or Twisted Tele or something which we all familiar with. My TA has maple fingerboard and stainless steel frets which makes it really bright and quacky for lack of the better term. I want to make sure La Brea is not overly bright.

Old thread but my brother recently gave me his tele and I just installed the La Brea set. I have the exact same model tele with Fralin Blues specials. My quick 5 minute comparison...I like them both. I’m so used to the Fralins since they’re in my #1 and have been for years. The La Brea are a touch warmer for sure. Not dark though. Still clear and articulate. Just warmer. I love the low end too on the bridge pu. The low E has this bounciness to it that’s fantastic. Makes riffs like brad’s alcohol intro really great.
The neck is maybe a touch dark for my liking. I like bright though. I took the cover of my Fralin neck (I ordered 2% over with cover) and eventually replaced with an open top cover on the neck for more clarity. Much more straty now and hard to compare to the La Brea for that reason.
It’s a great set though. I recommend it. Cheaper than a lot of boutique winders if cost matters.
