Welcome to the Forum Joe! A lot of good information and great people here. My vote is to go with the head and a 1x12 cabinet. Not that much difference in terms of a fuller tone just more flexibility in terms of using different cabs. I've got a number of cabs and use a Delisle Switcher to go between them. Works for me.

I'd sit back and think about how you might use the gear or as someone once suggested "Play the movie forward". In other words, picture yourself with the different setups and imagine how you would use it and see if one movie plays out best. I've also found age matters. When I was younger, I wanted to just grab a combo and go. Now that combo feels a bit heavy, and it's much easier to grab my Ghia head and 1x12 cab. Plus, I have a few instances where I don't need to take a cabinet, and I find myself wishing my Maz Jr was a head to trade off between it and my Ghia head. Good Luck! They'll all sound great! So, you won't miss on tone.

The 1x12 is really full sounding. It’s a pretty large volume for how much it weighs. It’s a really manageable weight, IMO.. Z puts a lot of thought into his cab and speaker choices so you can’t go wrong with either one.

If you’re a guitar straight in no pedals guy, then it’s a one trip load-in/load-out either way. Big pedal board and/ or guitar in anything other than a gig bag then you’re probably looking at two trips. You Gotta decide if that matters. I like head and cab, but appreciate the one trip load, as I have both options in my arsenal. I’m bouncing back and forth on the same issue with the Z-Wreck jr., but will probably go with the head as I have 1x12 and 2x10 cabs. I like the versatility.

Another advantage of head and separate speaker cabinet is, some tubes rattle in combos. having the tubes in a head cabinet isolates them and helps reduce or eliminate the rattle.
