I was thinking of putting a Creamback in my Z Plus. The problem I have is I love the Z-12 in it.
Should I fix what is not broke?
I do not have the money for another cabinet, nor do I have the space.
Anyone else made the switch?

If it were me, I’d buy another Z-Plus and a Creamback to find out. And therein lies my problem...

I love the Z-12 in my Z-Plus, it's just right. Gets me anywhere I want to go.

I switched to the creamback and it's stayed in for a good while. I tend to like British voiced speakers with American voiced amps and American speakers with British voiced amps, so it works well for me. The Z-12 sounded great. Made the amp more American. I guess I just like a bit of both mixed together better.

I found the original Z-12 speaker in my Z-Plus to be a little shrill with my vintage reissue teles. I put a 75 watt creamback into the Plus. The result was a firmer bottom, smoother top and the mids were in better balance. I may have lost a bit of overall gain, not really noticable. I can run the treble and cut controls higher. Great tone ac ross the spectrum. Beefy blackface tone for days.

I never played through a Z-Plus but I have tried the creamback with many other amps and its a solid speaker.

Thanks everyone for all the advise! I have been plugging the Z-Plus into all the different speakers I have.
No matter what I use the amp sounds great. Still don't know what I will do.

I love the Blue in mine, but if the Z12 was shrill to you, I doubt you’d like the Blue. To my ears, however, that Blue is awesome in the ZPlus.

+1 on the creamback, my Z-Plus came with one and there is absolutely nothing I would change about it!

My Maz 8 (V2) now has a Z-12 in it too. I love that speaker and tried a lot before I ordered a Z-12 from Doc. I tried it in my Maz 18VR V2 also but ended up keeping the G12H30 in that amp.

I have both and I run them together. I like the Z 12 a bit more. Creamback is really nice too. Probably not helping your decision at all!

I sold my Maz, but I put a Z12 in it, it was a great match for the MAZ too!

Mine came with the Z12, but I changed it out for the Creamback after a short while and never looked back. I've been running it that way for over a year now and LOVE it!

I've tried many different speakers with my Plus including the Creamback. But my favorite is the Celestion A-Type. It handles cleans and dirt exceptionally well. I also like it with my M12.

I'm finding with my Ox, there isn't a bad speaker. There's just different flavors or spices and adjust to taste.
I don't have a Z Plus, but the Creamback has a nice complexity to it.
My 'go to' speaker is the Greenback. I turned the knob on the Ox and thought I had my 2nd Greenback option. I was 'surprised' how mics could change the tone only to find out after recording I had switched to a Celestion Blue Openback. Both options sounded good. I'd argue the Creamback is a little bit richer than the Greenback and that's not a bad thing. Enjoy! And, you'll still have your Z-12.

Mine came with a Blue and sounded great. Me being me, I jumped into my Louis Electric Columbia with a 75 watt Creamback and almost lost my mind. I went down the basement, swapped out the Blue for one of the Creambacks I had lying around and I couldn't be happier. Another shocker to me was how much better a Celestion Alnico Ruby sounded in my Z-Wreck than the Gold and I'm a huge Gold fan.

It lasted about 10 minutes (I tried again later to make sure I wasn't missing anything, and that time I left it in at least 15 minutes). The Blue's got that rock punch for sure, but it was too bright/shrill for me. The Creamback with this amp is better balanced, breaks up more sweetly and allows more complex playing to shine through. I know we're not all going for that, but it works just right for my style (experimental rock/americana). Cheers!

I just took the creamback out of my 1x12 cab I’ve been using with my Therapy, and put it in the z-plus. Wow! Such a great combo. I do love the z-plus with the z-12, but I feel like the creamback smooths out the top end a bit and still maintains clarity as you get into overdrive. The cleans are Beautiful as well. I put an Austin speaker works KT-60 in the 1x12 cab to use with my therapy, and it sounds stellar. The creamback with the therapy was a little dark, But the kt-60 opened it up much more and I’m really enjoying it.

So, what is the actual effect of the Creamback vs the Z-12? What do I gain and what do I lose. I feel like the Z Plus is a very bright amp so any speaker that brightens it up might be too much for me. If the Creamback brings more British to the table I’d like that. any further input would be appreciated!

I don’t have a Z-plus but I do have a z12 and Creamback M speaker. The Creamback M is great. Really warms up my amps without being overly dark. Nice and full in the low mids as well. Like a classic Greenback rock and roll tone but less ratty. Smoother and more sophisticated.

To be clear, is the creamback being referred to the M65?
