First post on this forum. I'm considering getting a Maz 18 NR 1x12 combo with this speaker. If anyone has used this combination, can you provide any opinions, descriptions or comparisons to other 12" speakers in this amp? Thanks.

I think that amp would push a blue too hard. Some of the guys here know which Weber would get the sound but able to take the power.

For a similar speaker, the Weber AlNiCo Blue Dog or the Emenence Red Fang are probably good choices.

Ridgeback, I've had my Maz Jr NR 1-12 about 6 weeks now. Upon my dealer's recommendation, I ordered it with the Celestion Blue. Get it. Period. I can't begin to describe how good it sounds. I've owned and/or played all of the big boys and most better-known boutique amps and NOTHING can compare to the tone of this amp. Plus, the Blue upgrade is only $210 which is less than you can buy it as a raw frame speaker. If you don't like it you can always re-sell it and get the majority of your money back.

I bought my MazJr NR with the G12H30, and played it with that for about a year then replaced it with a Blue because I thought it might give me... something. Played with the blue for about a year before putting the G12H30 back in. The original speaker has a rounder and more solid bottom, more punch, bigger sound -- the Blue seems to mush out on the bottom in a way I don't care for. I play blues, blues/rock, R&B in small clubs 2-3 times a week.
I put the Blue in an extension cabinet and keep thinking I'll use it but I don't.
My experience. YM (and taste) MV.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I think I'm going to order the amp with a blue and see what happens. I have to sell my Vicky bassman and a few other pieces of gear before I can order the Maz. If I don't care for the Blue in the Maz, I can put it in my Vicky double deluxe where I know it will sound great and swap in one of the various 12" Webers or Jensens I have sitting around. I have never found a ceramic Celestion that did it for me tone-wise. Just personal taste. Thanks again.

I tried a Celestion Blue in my Maz Sr. (not cranked up enough to get distortion) and like the sound of the Celestion Anniversary G12H much better. I cannot imagine a better speaker for the Maz Jr. or Sr.
