I spent nearly a year playing my Z Wreck on the 1x12 combo format with a Celestion Gold. It sounds great, more portable even with the road case and it fits the tonal bill more times than not. Lately I've missed the head/2x12 cab format tones so I sent an email to Mr. Mather to get a flamed maple valance made for my silver head (it has a Z Wreck cloth valance currently). When that arrives I'll install and convert back to the piggyback configuration.
I feel fortunate to have the option to perform the swap. I'll bet it feels like going home!
Anyone else flip back and forth? Which to you prefer and why?

I think that's a good move. I converted my Cure to a head cab from Mather and like it! I use it with a Fender style Pine 1x12 with Eminence GA-SC64 speaker and it sounds great!

I hope Rhino doesn't mind me answering. When I talked with Mr. Mather, he told me the cabinet would be made so the faceplate is correct, no upside down words. So if your talking about a combo to head, the tubes will likely be hanging down. I'm sure he can do it eiter way though.

Man, i love my Blue Zwreck Combo, its a complete package with stellar tone. But when I plug into the Quantum Silver, well thats the Holy Grail! Doesnt really take anything away from the Combo, cause the combo is an amazing package, but seriously the Silver Set is the benchmark... perfection!

Apologize for ghosting here...but believe it or not we had a gig!?! The lead singer arranged in impromptu get-together at the local park. He setup is travel trailer, pulled out the awning, fired up the generators and we PLAYED! It was only he and I and the keyboard player...but it was a gig! So...this Z Wreck started its life as a black tolex head cab. I purchased an empty, used silver 2x12 (or did it have a speaker...don't remember) and loaded it up. I found a damaged silver head cab from the "Mother Ship" and just used the Z Wreck cloth valance from my black head in it to get me to a head/cab configuration. I found myself interested in the combo config so I reached out to Peter and he delivered (as he always does!). Here we are, a year later, and I'm ready to return to the "benchmark" Perry mentioned...so true and I agree...it's time! So... Seńor Verde - Thank you for picking up my slack. @fevzay - There's your answer! :-) perryr - Thanks for the tubes...need s'more! :-P

That looks like a hell of a good time!! It was the first time I'd played a partial set while cooking steaks. You'll notice the grill in the "kitchen" behind us. The steaks were wonderful...a bit overcooked but WONDERFUL! :-P
