I have to agree with Perry. That's about how mine is set right now. I like the volume between 9 and 12 depending on what I'm doing and I mainly play Tele's. It's currently set up in my home office with no pedals at all. Straight in like that, there isn't a bad tone in this amp. It's easy to dial in!

The Jetta's format is beautifully simple: (1) set volume to suit your pedals (if any) and your guitar's volume control range and how you use it; (2) set tone to "match" the guitar and your sound and (3) set volume to match room size. Basically, what everyone else said.

I have a Jetta and set it pretty much like the other guys do. I play a tele and a strat, both with vintage output single coils. W/out pedals, the sound is wonderful: full, big (huge actually), and not too bright at all. I use boost or drive pedals to get some grind out of it (it stays pretty clean all the way up with my guitars w/out them). Sounds amazing with some low-/med-gain overdrive and a bit of analog delay.

These replies have me super excited for Tuesday. Is clicking a tracking link 40 times a day the same as watching a pot of water boil??? Asking for a friend.
The simplicity in the Dr. Z amps is always inspiring to me. Allows me to stop fiddling with knobs and play my damn guitar.

I like to set it up clean with the volume around 9:30-10 and tone around 1-2 and master volume at 12. This is very loud so I use an attenuator to knock it down a few db. Pedals sound great into the front.

It's a great little amp--though it sure doesn't sound little. Like a lot of Zs it really starts to open up as you get the V control past 10:00. I'm liking mine a lot, though I also miss my Cure and may have to re-buy at some point.

Glad you are enjoying the new Jetta. The loop is very good for inserting effects like reverb.

Glad you are enjoying the new Jetta. The loop is very good for inserting effects like reverb. I haven't tried the loop yet. I usually run my amp pretty clean and dig the sound of all effects going right in. I'll have to see if I can find some cables to try it out with my delay and verb.

~ Welcome to the family! A lot of good people and information here! The Jetta is special - but then again, all Zs are special!

Got it. Survived intact, thru the short trip from N. Central GA up to me. Loving what I'm hearin' so far. And, you can get a lotta tones outta manipulating the vol/master/tone in diff. ways. As others have said, yes, use your ears not your eyes. Tried it with my Strat and my Gretsch thus far. But, since the wife's home...couldn't go at it like I wanted to. I did turn it up for a few. It will definitively shake the house. When she goes somewhere next..Gonna hook the board up to the front end, and slam it with some dirt and see what up.

Don't forget to play with the guitar's volume as well. Doc's amps respond very well to fiddling with GV.

My 02@ “Very happy and just a super weird amp. The more I play thru the more I dig it! Reminds me of the old Ampeg 4-10 ( can’t remember the model)
total dig the rhythm guitar sound . Running it at about 3 o’clock on the vol, 1-3 o’clock tone, depending on guitar
sounds killer thru my 68’ LP Custom and my TV SC special………should have my Strat and SC junior back in a few weeks to test drive this amp
Plan to run this amp together with my Friedman PT20C 1-10” for jams and small venues. Also with the amp settings static I can still almost spanky clean using just my guitar vol knob , very nice.
I think for me, I get that early Terry Kath rhythm tone, and Stones KR for sure.”

Settings? ALL OF THEM 🤣🤣
Typically I have the volume up more with the Les Paul, going for Sticky Fingers / Exile grind. I like it cleaner with the Telecaster.
Les Paul - Volume 3:00 or higher, all the way up sometimes. Master between 9:00 and noon. Tone about 1:00.
Telecaster - Both volumes noon-ish, tone between 11:00 and 2:00.
I’m not a big pedal guy. Currently have a Boing reverb and a BBE Tremor in the loop; Xotic EP and a Dookie Drive in front. Just got a Milkman F Stop reverb+trem to try.
