I've seen name brand guitars built all over the world, but I've never noticed one from China yet. Until I clicked on an ad for a Gretsch G5655TG Electromatic in translucent orange. Bigsby, center block, beautiful. $899. Then I started looking at the pictures and on the back of the headstock it says "Made in China" under the serial number.
Have any of you all seen any other big name brand guitars built in China?
I recently picked up a sweet late '80s Fender Strat made in Japan and it's really a great little guitar, but I've got hesitation about Chinese instruments.

Not to worry. China is the new Mexico.
I'd probably wipe it down first though.
A friend of mine recently received a new drum set marked "Made in Wuhan, China". He so far refuses to unpack it.

I've had this one that I took on a $300 90s Tele trade, close to ten years. I love everything about it. Made in China.

From what I understand, all Gretch’s are made in China. Even the high end ones.

The last time I was at Gruhn guitars in Nashville, (2 yrs ago) I played a wonderful Japan made Gretch. I asked the salesman about this, and he said Gretch guitars were made in 4 different places.
high end, custom- USA 2nd level- Japan 3rd level- Korea 4th level- China.
he said he owned 2 Jap Gretch's and loved them. when I asked him what was the main difference between the USA and Jap guitars, he said "basically, about 2k" I have read a few rave reviews about the model that Todd is showing in his post. if they didn't have neck binding, I would be interested in one.

I bought this one several months ago. Love it. Tag says it's made in Indonesia.

Fender's Squire Classic Vibe series came out of China!

I recently picked up a G5655T CB JR, it really is a Great Guitar! definitely has it's own vibe going on. I recommend checking 1 out or if you'd prefer the G6659T Japanese made version at over $1400 more. The additional $$$ spent will not make me play it any differently or make me a better for that matter.
