I haven't seen this brought up lately, but whose still using beam blockers? I gave one to Marc (headshrinker) a while back, and still have one I'm thinking of putting in my 1-12. just curious as to who still uses them, or is the fad over?

I'm obviously using them. I use them mostly on Celestions that have small dust covers to tame the highs, which I find a bit much for my taste. To me, those Celestions have this upper mid peak, that they help with. Don't generally use them with large dust cover Celestions or the Eminences I have. Also my band likes the way the amp sounds better to them with them in. They say they can hear it better without the highs being piercing. The other guitar player uses them too and I can see (hear) the same thing.

I bought a pair a decade or more ago. I'll be darned if I know where the are. Probably installed somewhere. I don't remember being enthralled with the results.

I use them the same way Maerc does. I like them, the band likes them.

Used them then took them out. Playing live need to be heard. In a studio of other I might have kept them in.

I found they do what Weber says they will and that works well on a small stage like a typical small club. Like you I did not like them on larger stages so I quit using them. If I now find myself in a situation where I want that attenuation I just stick a piece of gaffers tape on the grill cloth. Crude, but it works well enough. I think I have 2 or 3 of them laying around that I would give to a forum member if they would pay the shipping.

The concept actually has been used before even in some old Magnavox hifi’s. I have some I pulled out of one and they are metal cones that had the pointed end aimed at the speaker center. Also my early 60’s Ampeg Reverbrocket had a speaker baffle with an opening like 2 half moons facing each other with the wood of the baffle separating them with a rounded center. Both about the same concept.
