I have a Maz 18 that cuts in and out. I think its the effects loop that's the problem, although it happens mostly when I use the loop, not when its unplugged. Anyway, I'm going to try cleaning the jacks (again), and I want to make sure I get that area under the dimple that makes contact (or doesn't when the loop is in use). I can see where that is on an open switch craft jack, but I can't see what's going on inside the closed black plastic jacks on my amp. So my question is, do the Dr. Z jacks work the same way? In other words, is there a little dimple on the end of a steel shaft that makes contact in both jacks when they are not in use?

Hi benmaz, welcome to the forum. I'm not sure what's causing your problem. But if you want to clean your jacks, forum member premiumplus (Dave) has come up with a very cool method. A 22 caliber bore mop for cleaning a 22 gun barrel with some Deoxit on it.

Cool. I was using a q-tip but that looks like it would work much better. I'll try it!

Well I fixed it. The problem was a dying pos brand new JJ power tube. Oh well, at least now I have sparkly clean effect loop jacks....
