Any of you Z-Heads out there play both the Jetta and the Cure? I have a Cure, and while I dig it, I don't need that much gain and sometimes feel the desire for a fuller, less toppy tone.
Are there any similarities between the two?
How would you describe the tone of the Jetta? In clips it doesn't seem to mid focused, which is good.
I mostly get dirt from pedals, could the Jetta get passable tones at low volumes (tv volume) with pedals? some amps get neutered at low volumes. The Cure does well at low volumes. To be clear, I am not looking for amp crunch at low volumes.
Thanks for any insight!

Yes, it is definitely less-mid focused. It has a pretty flat response, not scooped, and definitely not mid focused, which the Cure is. There is also less available gain in the preamp than the Cure, so you will have more clean headroom at any volume. The Jetta loves pedals.

One thing I and everybody else really liked about the Cure is that level control, which made it super easy to dial in at just about any volume. Would the Jetta play nice in a very small club or coffee-house setting?

Has anyone else been lucky enough to compare these two amps? How different do they sound?

I had a Cure for a time. When Zplus debuted, it won the shootout. Put a Creamback into the Plus to tame the top end. Jetta is my current on the job amp. Very transparent. I play a tele and a strat on my gig. Small master adjustment and changeover is seemless. Pure tone for my vintage -style fender guitars.

I have had a CURE for a few months and could not resist when a used JETTA came up on reverb so now I have both here at the house. I haven't gotten down to the rehearsal room yet but at low volumes (like TV volumes), the CURE is certainly more at home. I'll test and compare at low and moderate BAND volumes tomorrow and report back. Stay tuned.

I assume you'll get there for BAND volume

That's what I expect. I didn't get the Jetta to play at whisper volumes so I am really looking forward to letting it breath.

I love the tone of the Jetta from online clips but I’d hate to only enjoy it at loud volumes. Happy to hear your response!

I think if you're looking for excellent tone at true bedroom volume, the Cure's your best bet. Also, the Cure has a very effective EQ section--the mid-content is definitely adjustable. That said, the Jetta takes pedals beautifully, and if you stick a good OD in front of it you can get your breakup of choice at pretty low volumes. I've never had an amp that interacts with pedals better than the Jetta--and I've had a lot of amps and a LOT of pedals at this point--it does some awesome stuff in the upper mids I can't even describe.

That said, the Jetta sounds fine at lower volume. If you're running pedals, you can put the Master up a bit and just keep Volume low, which will give you plenty of headroom.
