I really want both of these amps, but can only manage one right now. I play almost exclusively at home, so i will probably get the quieter of the two. Everyone talks about the loudness of the 28, but it is lower watts than the Jetta. Any one know the answer? Also, as a bonus, any favorites between the two...and why? Thanks so much in advance.

I’d say the JETTA will get louder or as loud as the 28, but the JETTA sound better at lower volumes. Or, you can get more gain tones at lower volumes. Both great amps, and no one has mentioned it, but I think the JETTA is more like the Z-28 than any other Z. But still different. You’d need an attenuator to get the Z-28 to give up the goods around the house, but the JETTA and it’s master volume, has it ready for any volume.

For home use the Jetta’s master volume will be more manageable. I have a Z28 and love it, but without an attenuator you won’t get it’s magnificent breakup without rattling the walls. I don’t have a Jetta, but do have the Therapy, rated at 35 watts (the Jetta is rated at 30, the Z28 at 22). If I dime the Therapy’s master volume (taking it out of the equation), it and the Z28 are both quite loud if you push them to breakup - I don’t know that I can say the Therapy is obviously louder than the Z28 in that regard.
Doc DID mention there’s a Z28 MkII version in the works that adds a master volume (and he’ll mod existing Z28’s to add that) coming soon in 2020. So that’s something to consider. That Z28 breakup is really something to hear!

That Z28 breakup is really something to hear! No the changes to the Z 28 MKII are way too extensive to offer it as a factory upgrade on older Z 28's. I did mention this in an earlier post, just needed to set the record strait. Z

Agreed, Doc. Saw your other post on the evolution of the Z28.

Just from memory I’d say they’re about the same, yeah—both about 30 Z-watts. Both would be entirely giggable just about anywhere.
