I’m new to Dr Z. I’ve been using a Fender Bassbreaker 15 and a Mesa Boogie F-30 for several years now. I’ve been searching for a single channel, lightweight, versatile amp and the Cure certainly fits the bill. I’m still tweaking. I like to set my amps up with a nice “dirty rhythm” setting and then hit the front end with a Barber Gain Changer and/or RYRA Klone (depending on guitar) for leads. We did a private Christmas party gig tonight in a large event room. We play a variety of funk, soul, rock, and some blues. The Cure seemed to fit every song and like the two guitars I brought which were a Strat and a Custom 22 PRS. I think I had the preamp running a little too hot. I had the master almost full and the volume around 1:30. I’d like a little less compression. What setting have you all had success with as a slightly dirty “base tone”?

I currently run mine like this: V 2:00, T 2:00, M 2:00, B 9:00, MV 10:00, Level to the room. I’m running single coil guitars. I also use a Tumnus as a clean boost to get a little more mids.

I just got my cure about 2 weeks ago and am still figuring it out as well but I am really digging this little beast. I needed something for a grab and for for small, lower volume gigs and rehearsals and it's working great for that but it really sounds its best with it cranked up (still not that loud), and with great feel.
Anyway, Lately since I am accustomed to using pedals for drive I tried to max the Master and Level and have the volume at about 9:00. The amp is pretty clean there but it really punchy and dynamic. If I want more sag and juice, I'll get the volume up to about 11:00 and back the master down to noon (my fuzz face loves this setting) .

Welcome to the forum stringbender1125 and johnny5!
My Cure is my main gig amp. I set it up like this; V-11, tone stack around 10, MV wide open, L to the room (usually noon or lower). I use pedals for OD and lead tones (Timmy, RYRA Klone, KOT).
I play Strats exclusively live and I have swapped out the speaker to an Eminence Lil Texas Neo, which shaves a few pounds and is more efficient, but is still in the same camp sound-wise as the Z-12 (IMO).

So...after having the CURE for several weeks now, I’ve found a setting that works well with both single coils and humbuckers. V: 1:00 T: 1:00 M: 11:00 B: 9:30 M: a hair past 3:00 L: to venue With this setting using humbuckers it’s breaking up some but cleans up when I back off the guitar’s volume to around 7. It makes for a FAT single coil “cleanish” base tone as well. I’m using the Barber Gain Changer SR for leads with humbuckers and stacking the GC with a RYRA Klone for single coil leads. This little amp ROOOARS!!
