I recently got a pair of GFS Mean 90 (humbucker sized P90) pickups. I put them in a Guild Bluesbird - a chambered mahogany/maple LP style guitar. I have to say, these sound great! I was a bit skeptical because they are much cheaper than some others. Anyways, they use 2 alnico 5 mags, and have a large bobbin (some others use a strat size single bobbin). They are clear, warm and have a great chewiness with some overdrive. If you are thinking about these PUs, go for it...

I’ve played a Guild Bluesbird as one of my main guitars for almost 20 years.
It’s not surprising that these pickups sound good; it is a remarkably versatile guitar.
Bravo!

Had a Reverend Volcano guitar with that pickup in the neck, and felt no need to replace it.

GFS are great pups if you're more concerned with tone than labels. They have just about any combination of magnet/power range/bobbin color/etc. that you could want. It's taken me many decades to learn to close my eyes, and open my ears.
Same goes for amps knobs...

Ive had a set of gfs . I agree that they are nice. Probably just as nice as many other brands. I dont have them in my guitars now. But I used them alot a few years ago and was happy with them.
