I am VERY new to recording and recently purchased a Focusrite Scarlett so I could start to record here and there. I was wondering if there was a site where I could purchase professional quality tracks to import into my Pro Tools app and then I can add guitar, vocals, etc. Everything that I have found so far has really terrible sounding drums. I don't think they are even real. Like MIDI sounding. Is there anything out there where you can get a real track made by real musicians of a popular rock or country song and you can record your own tracks with it and mix it down to a finished product? I assume this would cost a few bucks more than a regular MIDI track and that is fine. I just want something that I can put my stamp on and be able to share it.

Bryan - will you be playing/recording bass? If you want to build up from just drums, I’ve had good luck using drum loops. Their quality is pretty good. I’m not sure this is the direction you want to go since you would have to build the entire tune yourself. But, I figured I’d offer some input.

I suppose I could add bass myself. Where would be a good place to get drum loops?

That's a great question. I just looked up my various drum loop CDs: Drum Tools, Drums from the Big Room, and Mic Fleetwood Total Drumming. It seems they were all made by Sonic Foundry eventually acquired by Sony. They were 'acid' loops. It doesn't seem like they're available anymore. I'm wondering whether technology has moved on and to what? I did find this article from 2016: theproaudiofiles.com/favorite-drum-loop-libraries/And, the article references this place: www.thelooploft.comI can't speak to the quality, but maybe you'll find some info. Yikes! I feel like i'm out of the loop!

I've used drum tracks from this company and built the songs from these. They are real drum recordings. Can get pricey and time consuming, but they're authentic. betamonkey.com
