I've had my Carmen Ghia for a couple years now, but never had much chance to play it. Well I came into an opportunity to jam with some buds from high school - no expectations and who gives a rip if we sound terrible. Perfect for a guy who can't hear squat! Anyway, I've been taking the Ghia because it is the perfect size for this kind of thing. We're just playing in my friend's basement, not that loud, and the Ghia has a Brake Lite installed.
So I've been playing here at home through it, mainly to get my HX Stomp set up the way I want. Interesting box, but I just spent a half hour playing this simple progression because the Ghia is just sounding righteous. A bit of compression and reverb from the HX Stomp is all and the Ghia is slaying me!
Forget the clams (plenty of 'em) but listen to the sound of that amp (use headphones). I'm digging it.

It's a good solid tone! It's been good for my strat. I finally worked out a good tone for my P-90 Les Paul. I still struggle whether I would keep it or my Maz Jr if had to go to one amp. Nice playing!

Very cool. I've been kind of gassin' for a HX Stomp. Lots of stuff in it that I'll never use, but it does have some serviceable dirt boxes, decent delays and reverbs, some nice swirly stuff and a lot of ways to operate it. I probably won't touch more than 15-20% of the stuff in there, but having all of the stuff I do use on one small pedal board is pretty nice.

That sounds really good, Steve! Obviously you're using the HX straight into the guitar input of the Ghia...that's the way I want to use it, as a multi effects unit that I can use with my other OD pedals. Sounds great, but I'm curious...have you tried it straight into a gained up amp's input?

I've been running the Ghia with volume at about noon to 2 o'clock and the HX is working fine in that range. I'll give the knob a twist and see what happens...

LOVE that tone, Steve. Such a wholesome tone! Also, despite your hearing handicap, I've always admired/enjoyed your playing, so it made a really fun video for me! Thanks for the post!

That is very nice, Steve. Great to hear your playing, as always. Which guitar are you using? (I have an EJ Strat that looks identical.)

Also ....... I finally get it, too. I’ve had John’s little 1-10 Ghia for a couple years now, and just got a 1-12 (blue) Anniversary a few months ago. The Ghia has totally surprised me, a very complete amplifier that can do any gig for any kind of music. My Tele sounds stupendous through it. For me, the Ghia falls right in with the Wreck and StangRay as simply a superb everyman’s EL84 amp. Between the combo’s of those three (actually four with the 1-10!), I am set for the rest of my life for gigging amps. I could take any one of them to a gig and be completely happy! I now understand what you guys mean when you say every body should own a Ghia. They should. It could easily take care of business if you could only own one amp.

That is very nice, Steve. Great to hear your playing, as always. Which guitar are you using? (I have an EJ Strat that looks identical.) Mine is just a custom shop Strat. I bought it a few years ago after I saw Curt's blue one. This one has a very wide neck, which I kind of like. I never have connected with the bridge pickup until I ran it into the Ghia like this. Now that's what I'm talking about.
