My Z Wreck is my main amp and my second slot is generally on rotation. I have gone through countless Zs and traded my Jaz today for a Carmen Ghia. I recall liking the first one. It was a 210 and my first Z. But I moved it shortly after and started down the rabbit trail of Z amps. Sometime later I got a CG head and the older style 112 cab. Didn’t like it at all the second time around. But man, I am loving it now. I feel like it is exactly what I’ve been looking for in an amp for a long time. It may actually end up replacing the Wreck as my #1. I can’t imagine I’ll sell the Wreck though unless someone gives me a combo and cash for my quantum silver set.

I could see it taking over your #1 slot. It's a great amp. And can give up the overdrive without being too loud.

Glad you dig it! I’m liking the jaz more and more. I’d say it was a good swap!

My Wreck has the half power mod set to comfort, so the Wreck is actually quieter than the Ghia, but the Ghia is doing exactly what I wanted my Remedy and Wreck to both achieve. I’m a little bothered that I didn’t figure it out on the first or second time, but I may not have had an opportunity to try out pretty much every other Z made if I hadn’t gone down the rabbit trail. There are loads of great Zs, but this one just seems to fit me best thus far.

Im going through some nos tube tinkering with mine...nos rectifier,im liking the tungsol 5751 v2,but I think ill jan Phillips it again...v1,power are in the works (rft's)...work really well with the gold...clarity is getting better all the time.
"Back to what doc had in v2 tungsol 12ax7...didn't have enough juice with 5751..."

For my needs and likes I find the Ghia’s tone control to be perfectly voiced for my Fender guitars. Fatten it up or lean it out to taste...the sweep suits me perfectly. There’s an argument to be made that it could be my only Z if I could have but one.

digs57 I have been considering a Tung Sol 5751 for v2. I figured if I Love the amp with a 12ax7, that I might be head over heels with the 5751. From what I’m hearing you say, maybe I should look to put money into a speaker like the C. Gold instead. I ran the combo though my Z Wreck cab Sunday and absolutely loved it with the blue and gold.

I have found that I don’t need to move the tone knob much switching guitars. A little past noon for the LP and Gretsch, and a hair further to the right for the Tele. Volume sits somewhere between 9:00 and 10:00 depending on the guitar. It’s an amazing amp.

It depends on how much clean headroom you want. The 5751 will be a higher headroom amp. It depends on how loud you want to be.
Is the Ghia a combo? If so, what speaker is in there? If it's a head, what speaker have you been using normally?
The Gold is glorious with the Ghia, but it's a loud speaker. (100db) If you don't mind the volume, it's a great speaker.

Ive already posted about this...dun...installed gold Friday and digging ever since...I had a wgs g10c and that gave me some good hump but wasn't that sweet voxiness that I dig about maz...have it and more now with gold...5751 tone was sweeter...but playing live would never cut it.

Speaker is stock (v30? I think). I ran mine with a blue and gold, but I think the v30 is actually a great speaker for what I was doing. The Celestions were probably too loud tho. I don’t really need more headroom so maybe I’ll stick with what I have.
