Wanted to say a big Hey and what's up to all you guys. Let you in a experience I had in the studio a couple days ago. Well first off I go to a music college for guitar performance were I am working on my B.A. in music performance. Well as a little perk of going to music school we also have a recording engineering program. Where those students learn recording and micing techniques, ProTools and all thats stuff.
Well since they need to record people geuss who they get to record and who gets free recording time? All the performance students, sweet deal huh.
I am in blues/classic rock band, we are starting to build are sets, and to record some songs for our demo.
Now that all the background was kind of explained in order to fill you in sorry it was long guys..
We were recording and I was in one isolation booth with my amp, the other guitarist was in a seperate booth, and then in the main room drums and bass.
Well I was using my amazing Maz Jr. 2x10 and my pedalboard but the only thing I used the whole 4 hour session was my Keeley TubeScreamer..
The Teacher of the recoding tech class and the main engineer/produver to help the students worked in Motown and about every other major lablel in the US.
When it came to get levels, he stopped me after I played for a bit and asked what kind of amp I had.
I told him a Dr. Z and he said WOW I am not doing anything to that ampand I quote " its smokin', damn ".
I was smiling form ear to ear, the other guys had not heard my amp yet and were all saying how good it sounded. The other guitar player didn't say much, Chopper (the engineer/producer) had to hook up outboard compressors to even out his tone.
The rough mix of the basic tracks sounded super good I was so proud of my Z. My playing was decent but could have been better.
Thought I would share a great reason to use a Dr. Z amp.
When the drummer is impressed by the guitar tone you must have something really good.
Thanks guys for reading and thanks to the good doctor for making a superb product.
