the ticking was my watch...thanks.
New problem. Since last week I would notice an occasional volume drop almost to nothing, almost like the sound you would get when you keep playing after you turn it off. The volume gets lower, but distorts like a battery on an acoustic going dead.
Tonight it did the same thing but the sound is completly gone. I don't know a great deal about tube amps, but I checked the fuses and they seem ok. Could it be a tube? If so, which one(s) should I check?
thanks in advance for your help!

rectifier, then power tubes, then preamp tubes. (cheap>expensive) Then call the doctor . The problem you are describing sound most like a rectifier or power tube failure to me. Usually with fuses (and speakers) they just go.

Does it have an effects loop? The effects loop jack (I'm not sure if its out or in) one of them will be a switching type jack meaning when you insert a cord it will open and. If there's no cord in there the contacts could be dirty, clean it with deoxit spray. You can test it by inserting a short patch cord between the in and out, if thats what is wrong, your amp should work again. I had a Marshall Silver Jubilee that exhibited the symptoms you speak of and that was what was wrong, If you don't have an effects loop, I would have to say tubes is next.

It does not have an effects loop, but thanks for the help. I decided just to take it to a place I trust to have it looked at. I'll let you all know what they find.

I am having the same issue, but I am convinced I just need new tubes and recs. What tubes should I put in my Maz 18 NR head? And when I do purchase them does this head need to be biased or do I just plug'em and play'em?
