I just rejoined the Z-Club with an amazing sounding Cure. It's one of the first ones, produced in January of 2017. Had a question about the amp bias. I used one of the Eurotubes Bias Probes (info HERE) to get some readings. I got the following measurements with the amp idling: Power Tube 1: 47.5 (plate current mA-DC) 338 (plate volts - VDC) Power Tube 2: 46.8 (plate current mA-DC) 336 (plate volts - VDC) I'm certainly not an amp tech, but doesn't this mean it's running a 14W tube (JJ 6V6S or any 6V6GTA) at about 115%, and it would be pushing a 12W tube (6V6GT of GTY) to 130%? Thanks for the help! Evan

JJ 6V6's are not typical 6V6 type tubes. They are closer to being a 6L6 and will dissipate more current than other 6V6's. The Cure (I believe) along with the Z-Lux and JAZ are designed to use that tube primarily. I could not get any other 6V6 I tried to run in my JAZ without them redplating. I've never had a problem at all when using JJ's. Stick with the stock JJ's and don't worry about it. The higher current is part of the magic in those amps.

You also have to consider that the Cure is a cathode biased amp, which means you have to subtract the bias voltage developed across the cathode resistor prior to doing your calculations. Also need to consider screen current as well. I've been running my Cure on the original output tubes for almost a year now and it's used a LOT. No worries.
