I truely believe it’s time for Mini Therapy in a combo. It’s not my idea, it came from another member here but it makes so much sense.
I’m not talking about half powered mods or anything like that. I think it needs to be in a 1X12 combo format for smaller gigs or studio. Option number 2 would be Therapy in the same 35 watts but adding a combo to the lineup. After only a few years of buying Z’s I’ve decided that the Therapy my favorite.
And to the awesome guys at Z amps...your welcome and I’m here all day for more free advise! 😎

If you want a combo and don't mind all the stuff being upside down, you can put the chassis in a regular sized cab that fits a Maz etc. and you are good to go. I've done it a couple of times just for the fun of it. The one time someone noticed and asked about it on a break, I told them I was dyslexic and it looked fine to me. The Therapy is my favorite amp, okay maybe tied with the Maz, also. Have to say, the master works so well for me I have never thought about needing half the power and I've played some tiny places and places where volume had to be too quiet to be a fun night. Half the power would knock the max volume down something like 3 to 5 db, which isn't all that significant. It would also change the amp to single ended, which would likely change the sound of it. Or a speaker swap, that could also get you a similar db reduction. Might also try changing to 6V6s if you want less power. Though it also does change the sound some. I'm currently running EL-34s in mine and love it.

It's my understanding (not based on actual knowledge and experience-but hey, this IS the internet)that the Cure fits the bill here...

Tube rattle. Some amps dont well as combos because the tubes rattle too much when the speaker is in the same cab as the speaker.

I ask this because my zwreck is completely free of tube rattle at any volume but it did come with rubber bumpers which were a pleasant surprise. I did own a 6l6 Fender amp that rattled when cranked.

I happened to be at the shop when the Therapy was just about done and we talked about a combo version. I dont recall what was the rattle culprit but I remember the Doc mentioning that was the reason he wasn't going to release it in a combo. YMMV

I think it was Frank (irreversal) who had a combo cab made up for his Therapy, wasn't it? Someone here did it and was real happy with the results. I love combos, and I think rattling the chassis hard contributes to additional harmonics. Of course, it can lead to less desirable side effects too.

I totally agree. to be honest, I dont think the Therapy is that loud of a amp for it's wattage rating. I think it's totally manageable in most situations. a guitar's volume knob work's wonders! (lol)
