Recently acquired a Beano Boost mini used. I haven't had much time with it but in the ten minutes I did have I was impressed with the tones. The three way switch definitely provides options for voicing and what steps forward in the mix. My only gripe is it needs a separate power source. The one spot won't work w this one bc it makes it noisy. Will need to do the 9V cable adapter route w a battery. Will fire it up w my Z's later this week when I have some time. Eager to hear how it rolls w the '28 and Ghia.

I had never tried any Analogman stuff until a couple of years ago. My first introduction was the Beano. I LOVE this pedal!!! It's so easy to dial in with any guitar using the voicing switch.
I thought I'd only use it live, when I could turn up the amp. But I found, when jamming at home, that if I use the low side of the Fulltone OCD with the drive at 10 o'clock, tone at 10 o'clock, and volume to taste, I can "simulate" the amp driving a bit and then run the Beano into the OCD and it sounds great even at lower volume settings. I've done the same with fuzz pedals at times and it works there too. The only pedal I really haven't liked it with was a tube screamer. I think it's because of the mid spike of that pedal.
At any rate, it is a fantastic pedal and has led me on an Analogman frenzy. I've since bought 2 Sunbenders, a Sunface, Astrotone, Orange Juicer, and an ARDX20. Mike doesn't make any pedal that doesn't sound amazing, in my opinion.
Congrats on the new find!

Texas2step: thanks and yes it's a great stand alone pedal. I still haven't used it w any other stomps bc it's so good alone. I'll have to see how it plays w others soon. Good thing the Mrs. is out of town the first part of the week!

It really is a wonderful boost, no matter if it's a stand alone, or used with pedals. I hope you continue to enjoy it, and may your week be loud!

Congrats! I got my first Beano about 15 years ago and still have it. Had a few since, but that first one with the NKT White Dot transistor is the shizzle!
Being called a "Treble Booster" really is misleading and limits their exposure in my opinion. Really thickens the tone with the GV on full and adds sparkle when you roll the GV back.
Funny you just snagged a mini....I just ordered a mini to go with my Bad Bob mini on my mini board.....MINI!@
Like texan says....I can't speak highly enough of aNaLoG.MaN Mike and have been a fan for years. He's actually a member here ,but haven't seen him lately.
Rock that Beano!

Mark, I couldn't have said it better! It cleans up so well and is so dynamic, which is what I've come to love about fuzz pedals too.

It really depends what you're after. If you want a little added gain along with your volume boost, it's hard to beat the TC Mini Spark Boost at any price. I love the one-knob simplicity and it sounds great run after your favorite OD pedal when you need that extra oomph at solo time. If you want just a pure clean boost, I really like the Creation Audio Labs MK.4.23. It also looks really cool on your board. I'm also really digging the Archer Ikon, which can double reasonably as an OD into a cooking amp. Have not tried the Beano, but one of these days, for sure.
