Does the Master volume on the Maz MkII make the Brake Lite useless?

Kind of, yeah--or at least for me it has. I'm really liking my (older amp recently modded to new specs) "MkII" master volume; it works so well that I don't bother with the Brake Lite. One less thing to plug-in, too.

Yes. It works a lot like the level control on the Cure.

Ditto for me also. after the mod, found that the tone was just fine with the master tweaked like a level control. Last few times I played, didn't use the brake lite, and it sounds just fine. Really like it. Like he said.." one less thing to plug in"...

Sure does. I pulled the Brake Lite out and put it in my Z-Wreck. The new master volumes Doc and Don have come up with are stellar. Best I've ever had.

One less thing to plug-in, too. I've been on the fence about getting my 2008 updated to MKII specs. I really love the way it feels and sounds now, so the bar is set high. Every amp I've sent in to the Z shop has come back even better so why do I hesitate? Glad to hear you are liking the updates Mark!

I have a MKII and original, the new master is outstanding. I also have other Z amp and have always used an attenuator, part of my sound, just don’t feel like I need it with the Jr MKII. It might still be useful, just haven’t got around to trying it cause a quick turn of the master scratches the itch!!

I made the mistake of ordering the Brake Lite before playing the Mk II . I guess I can use it with other amps.

No. The Master Volume will allow you to get preamp distortion at lower overall output levels. The Brakelite will let you get more distortion from the power amp section. It all depends which kind of distortion you want.

I have an Airbrake, but I definitely prefer to just use the new master volume on my MKII Jr.
