Is the effect loop of The Z Plus buffered? How does it sound? Do you prefer your modulation pedals put in the loop or in front of the Z Plus?

I believe the preamp is identical to the MAZ 8. In that case it would not be buffered. With my MAZ 8 the sound is MARGINALLY clearer with the mod and delay pedals in the loop since the signal going through the preamp is not as complex. It is more apparent the harder you drive your front end.

Like zpilot, I prefer to use the loop for time based effects on my Maz 8. I'm running a reverb/chorus and a delay pedal through the loop. It's a small but noticeable improvement over running them in the front end.

My bad.....sort of. The send is not buffered. I use an AnalogMan buffer there with my MAZ 8 and if I replace it with a Z-Plus I will with that amp also. I use 25' cables to my pedalboard and feel I need it.

Thanks for the info! I did test the Plus but somehow forgot to take a look at the loop. Think I'll have a another chance to check it out soon. Glad to hear any remarks & points though.

I tried the loop and it works well. I used a TC Electronic flashback and Hall of Fame from one board, and also a Carbon Copy / WET reverb from my small board. Works great with both groups. However I usually just plug straight in to this guy and use the onboard verb. But I did give the loop a whirl and can say it works really well with the pedals I mentioned.

The loop works great. However, as Nick said, so does straight in the front. I have these Strymons in the loop and its great.

I’m guessing if you use an external buffer on the send you would place it on the amp side not your board?

Yes. I run as short a cable as possible from the loop send to the buffer. No more than 3 feet.
