Hey ya'll. So I was able to pick up a USED Maz 18 NR 2x12 Combo this week. I had it shipped in to my hometown from Alberta for a steal of a deal. The amp is practically mint, you'd hardly be able to tell anyones used it. Needlessly to say I'm instantly in love with it. It's tonally brilliant and articulate and it's a perfect pedal platform for me. I've always played multi channel amps and the simplicity of the Maz is glorious. I have yet to try the EQ bypass as it didn't ship with a foot switch. I was also worried as many of the people here seem to be that it wouldn't be loud enough but I honestly think it's louder then my last amp which was a 40 watt combo. Z watts are LOUD though and maybe my perception is off cause I'm not used to the 2x12 speakers but this amp has no trouble keeping up with a band in the slightest. In fact I don't think theres any scenario where I would need to crank the volume to capacity, which gives me peace of mind cause I've had trouble in the past with being too quiet in a band scenario. I ordered this amp on a whim as a few of my co workers use the exact same amp. I also have the luxury of working in a music store that stocks Z's. Playing through the "Cure, Z Plus, Z wreck and the Z lux left me excited for the Maz as I know it's the flagship Z amp and even my "Least favourite" Z is still miles ahead most other amps I've played. So I took a chance kind of anticipating liking it and It exceeded every expectation. Anyways, just wanted to share my love for these amps and that I'm happy to be a part of the Dr Z Family now! Here's a pic of it below my roommates Jazz Chorus! MAZ 18 NR 2X12

A 2x12 MAZ 18 NR loaded with two H-30's is still one my all time favorites. It has the broadest sweet spot , and a demanding presence on stage. Too bad 2 X 12 combo's have lost favor to most players, it is hard to beat their full stage sound without huge volume.

Don't be afraid to crank that master up much higher than it is in the picture....That amp will really start breathing fire when you get the master up around noon or better....

Welcome to the Forum - a lot of great people here and a ton of information! Here's another members listing of a number of Maz settings that comes in very handy to the new Maz 18 user (props to Mike for this!) michaelgiliberto.com/Page_2.html

I also love 4x12s for certain tones but a good 2x12 can take you so many places.

I assure you I only had the master so low in the picture because i'm pretty sure my neighbors below me would kill me if I cranked up the Maz haha. Band practice and gigs are the only time I get to hear my Z sing!

Congrats! You can try the eq boost/bypass just by plugging in a regular cable into the jack on the back of the amp. Leave the other end open or close it with a switch for control. Enjoy, it's a great amp!

Congrats on the new Maz!! I too have mine housed in a 212 cab...it's sweet!! A little heavy but worth it. I kept my 112 combo cab and will switch out from time to time depending on venues. I love the 212!! I do want to try some other speakers in it though. I have a pair of Celestion G12-75T in there. They are OK...but I know there's other flavors out there I may like much better. It came to me with those speakers. Been wanting to try a pair of WGS. The ET65 and Vet30
