I haven't posted in this sub-forum but have in others. In the past six months I've owned a Z-Plus, Maz 8, Monza, Remedy, Carmen Ghia and a Maz 18 Jr. Some of these were bought new, some used.
Honestly, there were honeymoon periods for all the amps but I eventually settled on keeping two.
The Z-Plus (to me) had very little in the way of change in eq regardless how I turned the knobs. I don't know why as I've read the complete opposite in that sub-forum. Regardless, it wasn't what I wanted in an amp.
I've had the Maz 8 twice and enjoyed it, there just seemed to be something missing for me. It's not as full as the 18, which is why it was sold.
The Monza I couldn't justify keeping around as I have a "one in, one out" policy that my common sense has won out over gear whoredom. I should be ashamed but I think I might be becoming fiscally responsible as I near 50.
The Remedy will be a regret, I am almost positive of that. It's a wonderful amp and the MV coupled with the two volumes really works well.
The Maz 18 stays but it is very apparent to me that the Ghia is perfect for me. There's no "chasing tone" or changing of TMB's with it. It simply requires a slight change in Tone (usually somewhere between 10-2, humbuckers to single-coils) and Volume (whatever I damn well feel like putting it to). That's it. There's not a guitar I own that doesn't clean up splendidly (the Maz 18 does this as well, though certain guitars usually force me to change Cut or TMB) and the Overdrive is simply perfectly crunchy and delicious.
Straight in it's great but it's also a great pedal-platform. I like it for this purpose just as much as the Maz (or the Remedy for that matter).
I went through the flip-phase in the later part of the first decade of the century (what a sick time to be a gear-horder, you could buy an amp, try it for a couple of months and then flip it or sell it for equal value; right now you are almost definitely taking a loss) and then went a little hairy the past year with buying and trying (subsequently taking a loss, which is why I'm not buying for a while).
Very, very happy to have a 1x10 CG with a Red Fang. At some point I will wind up getting a head so I can tool around with different cabs but it's nice to just use pedals on the rare occasion and just plug straight into the CG.
