Anyone try a Z-Plus with a Gold? How does it sound compared to the other options?

I haven't tried a Gold with the Z Plus. But I will say the Gold does need to be pushed to sound it's best, and 7/15 watts might not get there.

Even though I've only heard a few videos of the Z-plus...but from how people are describing the tone (compared to other amps) I would imagine the Z-12 or a greenback would be great with this amp.
I'm not in the market for another amp, but boy I sure do want to try the Z-plus. I WILL try one at Z fest.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.
I’m a pretty big Creamback fan, and I know that was spoken about in another thread. I have a Gold I’ve been swapping between amps and I thought it might be an option. Thinking about the Plus and speaker choices. I have Creamback and aa Gold, so maybe it’s time for a Blue in the mix.

Thinking about the Plus and speaker choices. I have Creamback and aa Gold, so maybe it’s time for a Blue in the mix. There's a significant volume difference between a creamback and a blue/gold. Creambacks are 97db....gold/blue are 100db. That 3db is quite a difference in volume. Also....if you already have a gold...at least give it a try. It will be very close to a blue. If you like the tone of the gold, then sure...go ahead and get a blue. But if you prefer the tone of the creamback...stick with the creamback. (however, if you need more volume, there are louder greenback/creamback clones out there.) I would think the creamback would sound very good with the Z-plus....since it's tone is in the greenback ballpark. Try both against each other...tell us what you think.

I tried a gold in the Z-Plus. I'll preface this with, I am not a big fan of the gold. I got my Z-Plus with the Z Speaker and really liked it. Played it for a couple of gigs and was happy. Then I decided to put a blue in. Again confession, generally not a blue fan. Though I do really like it in an Rx jr. Have to say,I also liked the blue in the Z-Plus a whole lot. Played a few gigs with it and figured it would stay in. Then decided to try the gold after Mike's post about the Ghia with a gold. Which I tried, and have to say it really was a great match. I thought the gold was okay when I played it at home in the Z-Plus. To get what I wanted from it, I had to bump up the mids from 12:30 to 2:30, cut the bass from 11:00 to 9:00. Left the treble at 10:30, cut at 10:30, volume 4:00, master 11:00, reverb 10:00. The gold had a more scooped sound than the blue. Sounded good at home to me, but when I took it out on a gig, it didn't seem to cut through as well as the blue. Also all of those great acoustic sounding overtones where not a prominent with the gold, so it came out. I'm currently trying a Weber Blue Dog ceramic. It gives me a real similar sound to the blue, but with the tighter more pronounced low end of the ceramic, which I like. One gig and a practice on it so far, with another practice and gig in the next 10 days. Haven't tried a creamback yet, but I do have one in a closed back cab I might hook up to compare.
