I have a gig coming up in May and I'm 90% sure they're going to ask that I play via a DI to avoid amps on stage. I've been looking at the JD direct drive and sansamp paradriver for this job. Anyone have any experience with either one? Ideally I want to put the paradriver at the end of FX board for a DI balanced xlr out to the board.

I like the sound of the Direct Drive...I've thought about picking one up just to have in my gig bag as a backup.

The UA unit looks pretty swanky. I don't really have the coin for that at the moment and an also pretty sure they aren't interested in an amp of any kind on the stage. I'm part of a house band for a high school variety show. Right now I'm leaning towards the paradriver bc it sounds better in videos than the radial box. I also like that I can tweak tone better instead of a one size fits all solution the radial offers. Thanks for the UA link, though. That would do the trick I imagine

I’ve been using the ParaDriver for both guitar and bass direct into the board at church for over 4 years with good results, and I can recommend it.
FYI, on the bottom of page 6 of the user manual it says that “it is best to have your instrument directly plugged into the SansAmp (ParaDriver) and place effects after the SansAmp. If, however, you prefer to place an effect before the SansAmp, be sure to set the output level of the effect at unity gain with the output level of the Instrument.”
I’ve been using SansAmp stuff for over twenty years, have had the occasion to call them with questions, and they’ve always been helpful.
