Well I finally got a Ghia. A 2003! The Blonde Z lovers probably won't like this, but the Z Wreck people should! It came in a blonde 1x12 combo and now lives the "Quantum life" as a head! What do you think of the Quantum Silver? I even found some old black chicken head knobs. Any recommendations on tubes will be appreciated.

That looks great, Ron! It looks great silver...really cool. I like swapping V2 with 5751 / 12AX7 for different levels of drive/overhead. The Ghia is probably the most sensitive amp I've ever had to tube and speaker selection. As for output tubes, JJ's sound good, as do Perry's 6P14P's (or is that 6N14N's???). First day on my new brain, sorry. Right now I've got Perry's output tubes, a JJECC83s and a Sovtek 5751 in mine. Speaker is a 12" Blue in an open back cab. Sounds real nice.

But what do you think about the amp???
I'd be interested in a compare/contrast with the Zplus

Where I come from, we use a specific word to describe that new look: Bitchin!

But what do you think about the amp??? I'd be interested in a compare/contrast with the Zplus Still getting to know the Ghia, but so far I can say they are two totally different animals! Z-Plus has more gain and I'd say more clean headroom full power. Ghia has that early grit that kicks in about 9-10:00. The Plus has grit or "hair" but it really is it's own unique Z. You should buy a Plus John to use with your acoustic gigs.

That's really nice! Is that custom? It's a Dr. Z cab. Ah - I thought that quantum silver was a 'wreck only color. Super cool!

I don't care about the color. It's a Z! And it's a Ghia!

Thanks to all for the kind words and Pm's. I'm really liking the Silver look. The Ghia and the Stangray were the last two amps standing when I went to pick out my first Z. The Ray was my first but man I really wanted a Ghia too. Four years later....the Ghia made it home. I'm really liking the Ghia! Great tone! I've been playing through my Creamback (M) for the last day or two and like it about the same as through my Blue. Awesome amp!
