Anyone using a decimator noise pedal? how do you like it? does it rob any tone? what's the difference between the decimator II and the decimator G-string?

I use a Decimator II. Love it. The G string let's you apply the noise reduction to front end of amp and effects loop as well. I have not noted any tone issues.

DECIMATOR?

I love my decimator II. I use it with my EMS along with a pedalboard that consists of 7 pedals and a wireless system. I play with pretty high gain and I use the decimator at a threshold of about 40 which is enough to completely silence my whole rig besides my actual playing and as an added bonus I get to play with high gain with my es335 with practically 0 feedback issues.
I come from a country background playing teles, a z wreck, a stangray, an ezg50, a maz 38, and a compressor pedal and I always heard that using a boost gate kills tone and dynamics. I've now found out that at least with the decorator this isn't true depending on what you're doing. My tone seems unaffected, but I will say that having your noise gate on all the time limits you a little bit if you're a volume knob riding kinda player, which I was in the country days and still do in my current band, though not as much.
When you run your amp hot and then try to clean up with the volume knob the noise can stop all sound from coming through, but this really depends on how you set it. I find 40ish is still somewhat dynamic of a setting and if you're medium to low gain kinda guy then you'll probably be almost completely unaffected while simply enjoying your tone and dynamics with only the added benefit of less noise

+1 for the Decimator II. It works really well, but you've gotta adjust it right. The first time I gigged it I accidentally bumped the knob way up, and when I rolled off my guitar volume, I suddenly lost all signal. It was in the midst of a song and it took me a minute to realize what had happened. I stomped it and finished the tune... Lesson learned: Always double check your pedal board levels. Maybe double double check it! Double Double? Dang, now I want an In-N-Out burger and I'm in Michigan.
