Watched Doc's Maz series Mods video. (Thanks Doc, AMA video series are awesome) He mentions the Dual Gain PPIMV mod, which seems more beneficial for Maz Reverb models.
From a guitarist point of view what are performance differences when comparing Pre & Post PI MV?
I hope this not a here we go again post... 😊

When you have a Pre Post Phase MV, then the MV is really driving the tone stack like a Plexi. So if I am correct in this theory then the amp sweet spot might be at a higher volume. With the PPIMV the amp signal is run through the MV Pot (Resistor) and that signal can be adjusted. If I were to further describe each I would say Hot Amp vs. Controlled Hot Amp That's my take, it may or may not be correct

Purpletele, thank you for your reply and perspective regarding PPIMV influence on an amps character.
I did reach out to Don @drzrepairs, inquiring about the Maz updates, particularly the PPIMV for a Maz 38 NR (context, amp build year 2014).
Don writes: "Pre phase masters can work however, attenuating signal going into the phase inverter can really shut the feel of the amp down –yeah you get clean but at what cost? Locating the master on the other side of the phase inverter allows the designer to use the PI to color the sound and enhance sustain then lower signal being sent to the power tubes"
My take away... PPIMV making the most of the pre-amp, enhanced control, by allowing the pre-amp signal to be managed and tone shape all the way through the PI (touch & feel dynamics are not limited by a pre-PIMV, similar to running pre-PIMV dimed), then PPIMV controls the amount of tone shaped signal amplified by the power tubes.
I would say the Maz 38 NR is quite a tone machine as a Pre PI MV. Sure would like to see an updated Maz w/ PPIMV demonstrated.
