I found this Carmen Ghia on Reverb a couple months ago and the owner just reduced the price. Couldn't not get it! Take a look at where the "Tone" knob is usually found. Notice it's labelled "Brite/Dark". In addition, the preamp tube on inside chart calls for a 12BH7. I talked to Doc and he said the faceplates were done individually back then (from a local trophy shop if I recall correctly) and it was original. Also, some of the early Ghias had a 12BH7 tube (which I believe is a high-fidelity tube used in stereos back in the day). I've never seen another one like this - does anyone else have one??

I'd say it's certainly collectible

If I recall, that’s how T-rock rolls.

Nice find. So the 12BH7 is the phase inverter? You know you have to make a comparison video now of that with a 12AX7 and a 5781, right? Got to say, for me, bright to dark is a better description of what that control does than tone. I usually use thin to thick in describing it, but thin is probably a term that you shouldn't put on the faceplate of an amp.

Have I ever seen one like it? Only in my dreams :-) Congrats, Mike! Watch out, you might get the bug to start collecting Z amps.
