I'm playing plenty of pedals with my PRS DGT into a Monza 1x12.... volume and gain are both around 9-10, and master is about the same. Fairly clean, edge of breakup type of tones. But, I'm noticing that I rarely have the tone control less than 3 o'clock -- and usually closer to full on. Is this normal?
Do you keep your tone full on like this? Is this a preamp issue? Kind of makes me think that I need a different amp that is a lil more of a brighter/cleaner amp, maybe Maz 18?

I normally run mine up around 1 - 2:00 with buckers, and below 12:00 with single coils.

Maybe new output tubes are needed. Some cables are known to cut the high end... ME

I was wondering if it might be output tubes, bc I didn't run the tone that far over when I first got it.... but, I'm not gigging and I only play at moderate volumes as home. Rarely does it get turned up to cook the tubes...
Plugging straight in various cables/guitars, I can't tell a difference...

Speaker??? That may have loosened up quite a bit and rolled off some highs...
When I had my Monza, I ran the tone around 1 or 2 o'clock...

A buddy loaned me a set of EL84 to try, so I'll see if new toobz fixes the wet blanket.

Tubes brightened up quite a bit, but now it almost seems like the tone knob only really works in certain spots and not in an entire sweep of the pot. Weird.
Best 84’s for the Monza? Or just any set?

Best 84’s for the Monza? Or just any set? Doc recommends using the stocck JJ's with the Monza's, but MOST importantly in a medium GAIN range.
