My Maz Jr reverb head was delivered today. It's a 2015 model, new old stock, and sounds great, first impressions are very good indeed. But, the reverb seems very weak, especially compared to my Maz 38 Sr head. On the 18, reverb full up sounds about the same as if I just have the knob on 9 or at the most 10 o' clock on my 38. I've tried changing V3 and V4, but it's the same. I also tried unplugging the cables and plugging them back in, still the same. I'm thinking maybe this is normal for this amp, but the amount of reverb available on my Maz 38 is loads more, and in fact I never use it above 10 o' clock at the most. I should add that my Maz 38 is an '05 model, so 10 years older!
Thoughts?

My MAZ 18 Jr combo is from 2001. Compared to the reverb in my Fender and Allen amps it's about 1/3 as apparent.

Had a reg combo cab model that I putzed with...alot...my newer studio has more lush verb...still could use delay or the flint though in live situations...I wouldn't knock yourself out trying to get it like your 38...may never happen...imho.

I had the same issue wit my 38 combo. Turned out,the Reverb tank itself was falling apart, the springs to be more precise. Before long, the Reverb just dwindled away. I replaced the tank and she’s back to her canyon’y,verb’y Self. It’s a 2004,gigged hard, bounced down more country backroads than I can count, and has been exposed to the rather harsh at times,Northern Alberta climate it’s whole life. Not too shabby, all things considered, and I’m gigging it Saturday night in fact.

Interesting feedback guys, and thanks. But this is a new amp, so I am surprised that the reverb is so much weaker than in my old 38. I tried some tube swaps again today, but it's no different. It's either meant to be that way or there is an issue with the tank.....

Mick - I had this with my 2006 18 head back when. I installed an NOS JAN 12AT7 in V3 and a Mullard 12AX7 in V4 ( the one with the long plates , not the short plate variety). Alternatively a Sovtek 12AX7WC in V4. In my case it took the reverb up a few notches , for what it's worth. I imagine you could try a 12AX7 in V3 , the AT7 has lower gain but delivers a higher current but more gain might do the trick. Hope you get it sorted.

Dr. Z has mentioned a few times about Reverb Tank quality and recommended the MOD Tanks I believe from Antique Electronics.

Interestingly, the tube in v4 is already a Sovtek 12AX7WB. I substituted that for a JJ ECC83S, but it's no different. I also tried reversing the RCA cables but that just resulted in no reverb at all. Reading around the net I can see that some others have had similar issues, but others say they get real surfy reverb, so what gives! Unfortunately I may have to live with it, but it's disappointing, although the amp itself sounds totally fine. The only other thing I'll try when I can is to connect the 18 to the tank in my 38, as I know that works fine.

Actually so does my 38, as I replaced the original Accutronics with one a couple of years ago.

My 02 Maz18 had really weak reverb when I first bought it (used), and I did a full tube swap, which helped a great deal, and then had the folks at Dr Z do the "current voicing update" - which brought the reverb to life. My reverb in the '02 is maybe not as spacious and lush as some of the classic Fender reverbs, but it's way more reverb than I'll ever want or need.

After a bit of asking around I've concluded that my 18 is behaving as it was designed to. Yes the reverb is weaker than in my 38, but actually the 38 is 10 years older and I never use the 'verb knob above 9 o' clock. With the 18 I'm happy using it set at about 2 or 3 o' clock, and it's fine. I also connected the 18 to the tank in my 38, no change. I'm happy, the 18 sounds great, I was concerned that there was a fault, but there isn't, it seems the circuits have been tweaked over the years, and that's just how it is. I'm grateful to John at Peach Guitars for talking it all through with me.
