So I'm counting the minutes until UPS comes a knockin' with my new Cure. Can't wait! I'm reading all about it while looking at my watch, and thinking that this amp is going to really do it for me. I'm sure it's going to be plenty loud for my needs with the Praise band and the Big Band jazz outfit that I'm playing for. I do wonder about adding an external, additional speaker to the mix though. I have a Thiele cab loaded with an EVM 12L that might work out real well with it. Also a Z 1x12 convertible cab loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30, a 4x10 1960 Marshall cab, a 2x12 with M Creambacks, and a few others. All that said, I'm going to make a prediction for myself, before I even get it unboxed: I'll love it just as it is, nothing else needed. Such has been my experience with Doc's amplifiers (this'll make number eight for me). Z knows which tube, which speaker, which cab...and how to put 'em all together for the greatest result. As much as I try, I can't make them sound better. I can usually make other amps sound better...but Z amps are always just right. I'll go back to looking out the front window now...

My Cure, "as is" from the factory, is plenty for most of what I do (small group/large ensemble jazz, variety, etc.), although I have added a Mesa 1x12 Compact open back enclosure with C90 that adds some real authority to the Cure combo on the bandstand.
If I ever need to be louder, I either mike it or go to my KT45 with 2x12 cabinet (WGS: G12cs and ET65).
In the Cure, there is a lot to work with.

I bought the Cure so it would be portable, so adding another cabinet was never an issue for me. But that video Fleabiscuit did with the external cabinet was really special.

I have a Thiele cab loaded with an EVM 12L that might work out real well with it. Let me know how that works out. I don't have a Cure (although I wouldn't be surprised if I do at some point!) but I've been considering a Thiele with another brand of small combo. From what I've read it makes a combo sound huge, and you have the best of both worlds - the low end thump of the closed back/ported cab combined with the airiness of the open back of the combo.

I'll be happy to do that, Buzz. First I've got to get ahead of the learning curve with the amp as is. It's got an amazing amount of different voicings with the Volume, Master, and Level controls. The added Level control turns the master into a great tool to choose how hard I push the driver tube and it is really a powerful set of controls. I'm really loving this little bugger so far.
